Leisure Farms launches hydroponics technology

Leisure Farms Tagaytay, the country’s first agro tourism and hobby farming development, held a groundbreaking ceremony for their hydroponics technology recently.

Hydroponics, an irrigation technology that eliminates the use of soil in cultivating crops, will be used in the project’s demo farms. The technology will be supplied by Netafim, the leading manufacturer and distributor of irrigation systems and agro-technology products, and also the inventor of drip irrigation, initially pioneered in Israel and designed to solve kibbutz irrigation problems caused by the land’s low water resources, soil saturation and harsh climate. The technology maximizes the use of water and requires a minimum amount to sufficiently irrigate crops and soil.

Netafim Philippines, through its agronomist, will ensure proper operation of the greenhouse Leisure Farms will use for the new technology.

The hydroponics system will be operational in Leisure Farms’ demo farms by the end of this month, all set to grow the farm project’s plump greenhouse Israeli tomatoes, Holland bell peppers and Harbest honey dew melons.

Leisure Farms is a residential farming community located in Metro Tagaytay.
