CLSU hosts sprinkler system

SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Nueva Ecija – A 5,400-square meter demonstration farm for the sprinkler system of irrigating farmlands will soon rise at the sprawling Central Luzon State University (CLSU) here.

The establishment of the demo farm was contained in a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by Dr. Rodolfo Undan, CLSU president, and Neil Luna of the Rain Bird International, Inc. (RBII), maker of pressurized irrigation facilities.

The state-of-the-art demo farm is to be located in front of the Research, Extension and Training (RET) building where an initial permanent fully automated pressurized sprinkling system covering 800 square meters was installed last January.

One of its main features is the introduction of permanent and underground pipelines which will not obstruct land preparation or cultivation activities.

Under the MOA, the RBII will provide all the necessary materials and equipment that will showcase the different sprinkler methods offered by the company while CLSU will be responsible for maintaining and making the area productive. – Manny Galvez
