MANILA, Philippines — Payment platform SwiftPay has integrated Billease installment payments into its online checkout, giving eligible customers the option to pay for purchases over six, nine, 12, 18 or 24 months.
The integration allows SwiftPay merchants to offer Billease without building a separate payment integration or setting up a new settlement and reconciliation process.
SwiftPay, a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)-regulated Operator of Payment System (OPS), provides merchants with access to multiple payment methods through a single platform.
“Payment preferences will continue to change, and businesses need the ability to respond without adding unnecessary complexity to their operations,” said Damian Gil, chief revenue officer at SwiftPay.
“SwiftPay gives merchants an infrastructure where expanding the ways customers can pay becomes much simpler, so their checkout can evolve alongside the people they serve,” he said.
Under the new integration, Billease installment payments are available directly through SwiftPay’s online checkout. Interest is calculated based on the declining principal balance, with the cost of credit disclosed upfront.
For consumers making higher-value purchases, the installment option provides an alternative to paying the full amount upfront, subject to eligibility and applicable terms.
“Installments are most useful when they are available where customers are already making the decision to pay,” said Kurt Molina, head of POS product at Billease.
“By making Billease available within SwiftPay checkouts, merchants can provide that option as part of the existing payment journey rather than creating an additional step for the customer,” he said.
SwiftPay said the Billease integration is part of its broader effort to help businesses adapt their payment offerings as consumer preferences change.
The platform enables merchants to add payment methods without developing a separate integration for each option, potentially reducing the technical and operational work involved in updating their checkout systems.
SwiftPay currently enables banks and enterprises to collect, route, reconcile and settle transactions across major Philippine payment rails through a single integration.
