MANILA, Philippines — An effective and well-functioning board starts with knowing the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of all members as well as their functions in different committees they are assigned to.
As part of the Center for Global Best Practices’ advocacy for board effectiveness, it will feature a special webinar entitled, Roles, Responsibilities and Liabilities of Board Directors scheduled on Monday, Sept.11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom.
Learn from lawyer Justina Callangan who is the former director of corporate governance and finance department of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her responsibilities included supervision of all Philippine corporations to ensure all organizations registered with the SEC abide by its governing laws, its rules and regulations and corporate governance compliance. Presently, she sits in the board of three publicly listed firms — Orix Metro Leasing and Finance Corp., Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corp. and Vista Land & Lifescapes, Inc.
Registration is open to the general public. This is applicable to all types of corporations including stock, non-stock, non-profit corporations, foundations, schools as corporate entities, public and publicly-listed corporations, and GOCCs with a corporate structure under the SEC.
