MANILA, Philippines – The country’s first hybrid bus operator is looking to expand its operations by adding four routes and more buses in Metro Manila.
“We have applications with the Department of Transportation. We applied for four routes and I hope they grant us the routes soon because we want to expand,” Green Frog Hybrid Bus Co. founder and CEO Philip Go Apostol told reporters.
He declined to give the specific routes but said all would be covering Metro Manila.
Apostol said the company is also planning to add more buses to its fleet.
“Hopefully, in about three years, we are looking at about 200 buses,” he said.
At present, all 10 buses of Green Frog serve the C-5 to Mall of Asia route.
Green Frog’s buses are assembled in China but the components are from different parts of the world.
The hybrid system are from the US, while the batteries are from Japan and the brake suspension system is from Germany.
The buses are air-conditioned, equipped with closed circuit television and accept tap card payments.
