MANILA, Philippines — Carlo Katigbak is the new chief operating officer of ABS-CBN network.
The network announced Friday that Katigbak will take over Charo Santos-Concio's post as CEO. Santos-Concio, meanwhile, will retire on Decemeber 31, 2015 but will continue to be the network's chief content officer, president of ABS-CBN University, and executive adviser to Chairman of the Board Eugenio Lopez III.
Before he was appointed CEO, Katigbak served the media giant as its chief operating officer in March 2015.
He was a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Management Engineering in 1991. He then completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2009.
His career began in 1994 when he started at Sky Cable. He handled various key positions in the company, which paved the way for him to be appointed as vice president for provincial operations in 1998.
In 1999, he was assigned to handle ABS-CBN's Internet business. He later became the managing director of ABS-CBN Interactive.
He then returned to Sky Cable and served as chief operating officer for seven years, from 2005 to 2012. He eventually became the company's president in 2013, and under his term Sky Cable launched the Digibox and relaunched its broadband products.
His appointment will take effect on Jan. 1, 2016. — Joyce Jimenez
