MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has partnered with NTT Communications Corp. (NTT Com) of Japan to provide data center solutions in the country and promote cross-selling.

In a statement yesterday, PLDT said the partnership would enable Philippine companies with international operations to use NTT Com’s Nexcenter services at 140 locations in 84 cities of 19 countries, in addition to the Japanese firm’s Arcstar Universal One which is available and used by business process outsourcing firms in the country.

NTT Com’s Nexcenter data centers provide seamless global information communications technology (ICT) platform with colocation, hosting, network and security services, as well as high-quality facilities to customers.

Arcstar Universal One, meanwhile, is a network service providing a one-stop shop to firms which operate around the world.

NTT Com’s data centers support customers by providing high-quality, disaster-resistant, and ecological data centers that meet business continuity and corporate social responsibility requirements.

Under the agreement with NTT Com, PLDT expects to secure accreditation for its two existing main data centers to begin providing the Nexcenter services by January next year.

In addition, PLDT will incorporate Nexcenter standards in a new data center.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Nexcenter’s position as the top data center brand in Asia.

NTT Com will likewise use the partnership with PLDT as a model to further expand the Nexcenter footprint to other regions where high demand for data center services exists among companies looking to expand and enhance their businesses.
