MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. expects its postpaid and data revenues to get a boost from the latest Apple phones.
Globe’s chief commercial officer Albert de Larrazabal said the company is optimistic the postpaid segment as well as mobile data business would get support from the newly-released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
He said the new iPhones would help Globe maintain its leadership in the postpaid segment.
For the first half, Globe’s revenues from its postpaid business reached P15.8 billion. Mobile data revenues, on the other hand, amounted to P9.5 billion, up by 53 percent from P6.2 billion in the same period last year.
De Larrazabal noted that the iPhone has been instrumental in getting more people to use their mobile devices to access the Internet.
The company sees positive reception for the two new iPhones even as trends in the past have shown that the S version tends to sell less than the main version.
“It’s generally on the uptrend,” de Larrazabal said.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have the most advanced chip available in a smartphone and enable new ways to access features and interact with content. They come in the following colors: space gray, silver, gold and the new rose gold.
The iPhone 6s (16 GB) will be available through Globe’s Plan 1799 with a P450 monthly cash out, while the iPhone 6s Plus (16 GB) will be offered on Plan 1799 with a monthly payment of P650, both on a 24-month contract.
Under the Plan 1799 postpaid bundle, subscribers can get 10 GB of mobile data per month as well as non-stop music, movies and games with free access to Spotify Premium, HOOQ and top mobile games for three months.
Subscribers can also enjoy free access to Facebook, Viber and Instagram, unlimited calls to Globe and TM subscribers, as well as unlimited texts to all networks, all for 24 months through the postpaid bundle.
