PSC set to open 500 new 7-Eleven stores

MANILA, Philippines - World-leading convenience store chain brand 7-Eleven announces its aggressive expansion campaign in the country, with plans to put up 500 new stores this year.

Via its exclusive local licensor, Philippine Seven Corp. (PSC), 7-Eleven is targeting to expand in major cities of Mindanao and other major cities in the Visayas such as Dumaguete, Capiz, and Aklan.

According to PSC president and CEO Jose Victor P. Paterno, 7-Eleven is all set to penetrate these areas. In the Visayas, the company targets to open another 120 stores specifically in Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Capiz and Aklan. In Mindanao, PSC is set to venture in Davao, other Metro Davao provinces, and Cagayan De Oro.

Paterno added that 7-Eleven is not only headed for the Visayas and Mindanao areas. It is also looking at major markets in North Luzon. It is set to open 70 stores in the areas of Baguio, Bataan, Pampanga, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Ilocos Sur/Norte, and La Union.

“These are provinces which we consider prime growth areas most, if not all, with 7-Eleven stores existing already. We still see these as potential areas to sustain and grow more 7-Eleven stores,” he said.

As for possible entry of competition especially in uncharted locations in the Ilocos region, Paterno said that PSC is confident to gain solo leadership, as it plans to continuously open in the said areas while looking at potential areas in Region 2 which is still untapped by 7-Eleven.

“Region 2 is on our growth radar, but it is still on evaluation stage.  We are optimistic to end the year with around 1,700 stores,” he noted.

As part of its major expansion goals, PSC is aggressively seeking franchise partners particularly in the said areas. Offered in flexible options, potential partners can avail of regular new store franchise (open a new 7-Eleven store) or property conversion (convert an established business or properties into a 7-Eleven franchise).
