MANILA, Philippines - Ericsson Philippines was recently awarded the Nordic-Philippine Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award for Activity of the Year by the Nordic Business Council of the Philippines (NBCP).
The NBCP gave the awards during the celebration of its first anniversary dinner at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel.
The council is a non-stock, non-profit organization that promotes and facilitates trade, commerce, industry and investment in the Philippines and the Nordic and Baltic countries.
The award commended Ericsson for its sustained corporate responsibility efforts in the country, such as activities undertaken in partnership with customers to support public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila.
The NBCP also recognized Ericsson’s efforts to aid Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Taliban, Leyte that involved the Ericsson Response, an employee volunteer initiative that set up and maintained emnergency telecommunications equipment, used by the United Nations’ World Food Program teams in the area to seve the needs of 2.5 million Yolanda survivors.
NBCP president Bo Lund-qvist lauded Ericsson’s CSR activities in the Philippines, citing the company’s continuous CSR programs and its efforts during Yolanda calamity as great examples of Nordic corporate social responsibility.
Elie Hanna, country head for Ericsson Philippines and Pacific Islands, said they are honored to receive the award from the NBCP and share it with all Ericsson employees who supported Typhoon Yolanda efforts.
