BCDA to bid out SCTEx maintenance deal

MANILA, Philippines - State-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is looking for firms interested in undertaking the P111-million heavy maintenance works along the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).

“We are inviting experienced and financially capable construction companies to submit bids for the 2014 heavy maintenance works along the SCTEx,” according to BCDA president and chief executive officer Arnel Paciano D. Casanova.

The BCDA is the owner and builder of the SCTEx.

Casanova said the heavy maintenance works are needed to provide motorists the comfort and convenience of smooth travel.

The work consists of two programs.  Lot 1, which has an approved budget of P98.948 million, involves asphalt pavement resurfacing.

Lot 2, which involves bridge revetment, slope and drainage repair, has an approved funding of P12.451 million.

Bids and Awards Committee chair for SCTEx Project and Infrastructure Regina Salve R. Lapuz said the prospective bidders must have a valid license for the applicable category from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board for General Engineering on Roads, Highways, Pavements, Railways, Airport Horizontal Structures andBridges.

Bidding documents for the maintenance works may be purchased at the BCDA Corporate Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City until March 17, for a non-refundable fee of P50,000 for Lot 1 and P25,000 for Lot 2.

Interested bidders may also view the bidding documents at the BCDA website, www.bcda.gov.ph.

The pre-bid conference is scheduled on March 5, for both Lot 1 and Lot 2 at the BCDA Corporate Center, where queries of interested bidders would be entertained and discussed.

The deadline for submission of bids is on March 17.

The SCTEx was constructed at a total cost of P34.907 billion, with 78 percent of the funding coming from a loan extended by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and 22 percent accounted for by the BCDA.
