Convergys exec named among 100 Most Influential Filipinas

MANILA, Philippines - Marife Zamora, Convergys senior vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, is one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award recipients (FWN Global 100), in the Founders and Pioneers category.  Zamora accepted the honor in ceremonies at the 10th Filipina Leadership Summit hosted by the Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) in San Francisco.

The 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Awardâ„¢ recognizes women of Philippine ancestry who are influencing the face of leadership in the global workplace, having reached status for outstanding work in their respective fields and are recognized for their achievement and contributions to society, femtorship (female mentoring) and legacy.

The “Founders and Pioneers” category distinguishes Filipina women in their capacities as CEO or founder of a company, or business venture they helped start, build or significantly grow. Category recognition goes to “trailblazers who have marshalled resources and applied innovative practices, processes and/or technologies in a new and groundbreaking way to address a significant business or organizational opportunity.”

Marily Mondejar, FWN CEO and founder, said: “Marife Zamora is one of the very few women who have broken through the glass ceiling in the corporate world. She conquered the uncharted and blazed the trail for many corporate leaders. She is the only Filipina in the business process outsourcing industry at the C-Suite level, as Convergys’ managing director for Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, the company’s largest region. Her success in pioneering Convergys’ Philippine operations to become the country’s largest private employer in less than 10 years is extraordinary. We also commend Marife’s leadership in encouraging social commitment, as one of the board members of the Philippine Integrity Initiative, a private sector movement that promotes ethical business practices. We are also excited that as a champion of career growth, Marife’s support of women emerging as top executives of their companies worldwide, goes beyond her own organization – she leverages her network to influence and inspire other Filipinas working in the Philippine corporate sector.”

Zamora has grown in her role from being Convergys’ first Philippines country manager setting up local operations for the company in 2003, to her current role as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and EMEA. Today, she is responsible for almost 50,000 employees across the Philippines, Malaysia, India and United Kingdom.

Countries under Marife’s scope have also gained industry recognition, testifying to Convergys’ employer-of-choice status. Aside from Convergys Philippines’ numerous awards, Convergys India has reaped the Golden Peacock Innovative Service Award 2012 while Convergys United Kingdom was deemed Contact Centre Team of the Year at the Northeast Contact Centre Awards 2012.

Aside from accepting her award, Zamora was a keynote speaker on the “Make Me a Filipina CEO” panel discussion, one of the summit’s events. The panel was held at the Google San Francisco Campus, as part of the leadership summit’s femtoring sessions for Global 100 Awardees and their protégés.
