MANILA, Philippines - How do you prepare for an emergency? Akari Lighting and Technology has just launched several products that are meant to equip Filipinos with the right tools when emergencies happen. Elizabeth Navarro, institutional sales head of Akari, said their new products range from emergency lights, emergency lanterns, and rechargeable flashlights. These products, she said, are tailored to the needs and budget of Filipino families. Most of Akari’s emergency products use light emitting diodes or LEDs which consume very small amount of electricity. Hence, a full charge often lasts for days. Navarro added that some of their products even have other functions such as electric fan and AM/FM radio which is very important in times of calamities. Navarro said that emergencies are considered “normal†for Filipinos during the rainy months of July to October, when the country is pummeled by an average of 15 typhoons.
