MANILA, Philippines - Foodsphere Inc., maker of CDO and San Marino food products, has been awarded with the certificates for ISO 22000:2005 or Food safety Management System and ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System by certifying body SGS Philippines in simple ceremonies held at the Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City last April 23.
SGS Philippines’ managing director and CEO Rosario Cajucom-Bradbury said the two certificates are manifestations that Foodsphere’s food safety and quality management systems are globally-competitive.
“We at SGS are very much delighted to be the first certifying body to award you with the certificate for ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System (FSMS), together with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS), which prove that your systems here in your Batangas site are at par with these distinguished international standards,†said Cajucom-Bradbury.
The SGS chief said these certifications can assure CDO consumers that “the products that they are purchasing and that their loved ones will be eating, are manufactured in the safest, healthiest and most efficient manner.â€
“The quality of your products is a manifestation of your dedication. Your commitment to continuous improvement shows this and, your two certifications prove it,†she said.
ISO 22000:2005 demonstrates the company’s commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction and assures consumers that the products have passed the very stringent requirements for food quality and safety.
ISO 9001:2008 certification, on the other hand, is based on the quality management principles of customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach, continual improvement, fact-based decision making, and mutually-beneficial supplier relationships.
This means that Foodsphere possesses the qualifications and levels needed to be adjudged as at par with international standards and that the company ensures the most excellent of conditions, procedures, and people management in its processes.
The two-stage audit process for the Foodsphere plant in Malvar was conducted in 2012. The first stage was conducted in June and involved two days of intensive audit and verification by the SGS team of auditors. The second stage was conducted also for two days in December 2012.
“These certifications prove that we have the system in place to compete not just in the domestic market, but also in the global market, in terms of quality and food safety,†Foodsphere president Jerome Ong said.
