Splash sustains double-digit sales growth

MANILA, Philippines - The direct selling business of personal care manufacturer Splash Corp. recorded a double-digit sales growth in the first quarter as it beefed up its network in the entire country.

In a statement, Splash said the Direct Selling Division’s net sales picked up 15.4 percent to P99.6 million in the first three months from P86.3 million a year ago.

The latest figures marked the ninth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth for the division, which was organized only three years ago to develop a more direct route to consumers.

“We continue to grow our sales by focusing on building a network of members across the country, equipping them with the necessary competencies and providing them with quality products,” said Glenda D. Pingol, vice-president and general manager for direct sales.

Splash said it has grown its network seven-fold over three years.

To date, it has 43 branches and independent business centers in the Philippines. Splash expects to increase its business centers by 73 percent this year to reach the far corners of the country.

Splash said its network development is hinged on a solid marketing plan that attracts budding entrepreneurs who undergo a members advancement program.

“This unique package of trainings equips members with the necessary skills to rise beyond their modest backgrounds to build and run sizable businesses of their own,” Splash said.

Splash Direct Selling now has products in various categories: personal care, male care, home care, health and wellness products like food and growth supplements.

New products are in the pipeline to fill the gaps in the consumer market, Splash said, adding that it will continue to build its market leadership in personal care categories like skin whitening and exfoliant products.

The listed personal care manufacturer posted a P12.8 million income in the first quarter, 18.8 percent higher from the same period last year due to higher contribution of its new food and direct selling businesses.

Splash also aims to be a competitive player particularly in the food industry that provides economies of scale and complements with the core personal care business.

Splash carries the brands Extraderm, Maxi-Peel, Skin White and Bioskin, one of the fastest-growing skin care brands in the country.

In March, its sales, marketing and logistics arm Prime Global Corp. signed contracts to provide nationwide logistics services for food products Master Chef Sea Salt of Arvin International Inc. and Royal Brands FishSauce from Royal Brands of Thailand.
