MANILA, Philippines - The DTI-Regional Operations Development Group announced the national launching of the OTOP Store (Tindahang Pinoy) Project in Mandaue City, Cebu and the introduction of the three Tindahang Pinoy Stores in Cebu, Davao City and Clark, Pampanga.
The three Tindahang Pinoy Stores are managed by the Cebu-GTH Foundation, Inc. in Mandaue City, the Davao Ecocrafts in Davao City and the Philexport Region 3 in the Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Undersecretary Merly Cruz said the OTOP Store (Tindahang Pinoy) is a project of the Department of Trade and Industry which aims to promote Philippine world-class products to tourists and domestic buyers in cooperation with private sector partners. The TP Stores will serve as an avenue for the globally-renowned exporters and the OTOP entrepreneurs to showcase their products to foreign and local buyers.
The stores will also showcase the OTOP products from the different cities and municipalities of the country as the product mix of each store will be composed of 70 percent from home region and 30 percent from other regions.
Products on sale include processed food, gift and decorative items, health and wellness products, furniture and furnishings, fashion accessories, bags, handicrafts, and many more. Products are made from indigenous raw materials and local skills are used in their manufacture, thereby providing employment to local residents.
The DTI intends to open more OTOP stores (Tindahang Pinoy) all over the country in the months to come in cooperation with private sector partners and the government partners namely, the Bureau of Domestic Trade, Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines, Philippine International Trading Corporation, DTI Regions 7, 11 and 3 and all other DTI Regional Offices.
Among the highlights of the event are the launching of the OTOP store (Tindahang Pinoy) product catalogue and the e-marketing system for the stores.
