Aboitiz unit inks power supply deal with Abra electric coop

MANILA, Philippines - AP Renewables Inc. (APRI), the renewable energy development arm of Aboitiz Power Corp. (APC), has sealed a five-year power supply contract with Abra Electric Cooperative Inc. (ABRECO).

The contract will allow APRI to supply clean, stable and reasonably-priced power to ABRECO. This will serve at least 26 municipalities from the province of Abra until 2016.

“We are pleased to partner with ABRECO in powering over 43,000 customers in the province of Abra. We are optimistic that we will be able to provide reliable energy that meets their needs, while being environmentally conscious,“ said Erramon I. Aboitiz, APC president.

ABRECO general manager Loreto Seares Jr., for his part, said the deal with APRI will not only provide clean energy to their customers but will also offer cheaper power rate.

“Our partnership with APC signifies the commitment of ABRECO in building a better future not just for the cooperative, but more importantly, for the province of Abra,” Seares said.

“Quality service from APCr coupled with the desire of ABRECO to excel in the field of power distribution will ensure a healthy working relationship.”

APC is the holding company for the Aboitiz Group’s investments in power generation, distribution, retail and power services.

It is a major producer of Cleanergy, its brand for clean and renewable energy in the Philippines with several hydroelectric and geothermal assets in its generation portfolio and also has non-renewable power plants located across the country.

The company owns distribution utilities that operate in high-growth areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
