Engineers set annual confab

MANILA, Philippines - Over 200 local and foreign electrical companies are joining the trade exhibits of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) which will be held in connection with its 36th Annual National Convention on Nov. 22-26 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on Roxas Blvd. Details of the five-day convention and exhibits were discussed by officials of the group during a convention bureau meeting recently  at the IIEE building in Quezon City, chaired by Jules Alcantara,  vice president for internal affairs. The exhibit is being handled by Engr. Greg Cayetano, vice president for external affairs. Theme of the convention, considered the biggest gathering of electrical practitioners in the country, is “Economic Development Through Clean and Affordable Electricity.” Armando R. Diaz, IIEE national president, said  leading companies in electrical, electronics and energy industries will showcase their products and services. It will also  be open to foreign exhibitors  “for a more  bigger product exhibition,” he said. “We will be expecting a big number of product exhibitors, more or less 200,  from here and abroad. As of to date, over a hundred  companies engaged in electrical, electronics and energy, electrical equipment, machinery, appliances and personal devices,  have already signified their intention to participate in the exhibit,” Diaz said. One of the main activities of the convention include a power forum and technical sessions  on electrical safety, transmission and distribution, power transformers, energy efficiency, power quality, electrical design, The IIEE has over 30,000 members composed of licensed electrical practitioners. It has 77 chapters nationwide and eight abroad.
