MANILA, Philippines - Ericsson, the world’s leading provider of technology and services to telecom operators, recently announced the appointment of Elie Hanna as the new president and country manager of Ericsson Philippines and Pacific Islands. He will be responsible for strengthening Ericsson’s business in the country, and will lead a team of around 700 employees in Manila, Cebu and Davao. Ericsson is currently the technology partner of all telecommunications companies in the country in deploying 2G, 3G, HSPA+ and LTE services to subscribers nationwide. Prior to this position, Hanna was vice president for Global Tactical Planning and Implementation at the Ericsson headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. He was also based in Cairo, Egypt as the vice president for Services for Market Unit North Africa, where he was responsible for 17 countries. Hanna also held other executive positions in Ericsson, including his stint in 2002-2004 as the Director of software supply, integration and system support for the Service Network Layer worldwide. “We are confident that we will be able to further strengthen Ericsson’s position in the Philippines and Pacific Islands with Hanna’s leadership,” affirms Arun Bansal, Ericsson Head for the Southeast Asia and Oceania region.
