TNT Express embarks on P10-M refleeting program

MANILA, Philippines - Buoyed by its double-digit growth last year, major logistics transport company TNT Express Philippines is investing on a P10-million re-fleeting program this year that will entail the acquisition of bigger and more modern trucks to beef up its existing fleet.

Allan Ancheta, country operations director of TNT Express Philippines, said that the re-fleeting program is aimed at increasing the capacity and volume of the fleet to meet the growing demand of manufacturers and heavy shippers. TNT has purchased 10 new vehicles composed of four, six, and 10-wheeler wing vans and trucks that will be deployed in the Laguna and Cavite PEZA (export processing zones) areas as well as in the Clark and Subic Bay Freeports in Northern Luzon before end of this month.

“We are looking towards transporting more heavy freight consignments that require payload capacity between 100 kg. to 10 tons at any given time. The volume of such shipments are growing and given the bullish outlook on our imports and exports, we are now more than ready to serve such a need,” Ancheta added.

Aside from adding muscle to its operations, the re-fleeting program also forms part of the company’s contribution to the call for a greener environment under its Planet Me initiative, a global corporate social responsibility campaign which aims to reduce the company’s carbon emissions.

“Aside from bigger carrying capacity, the new vehicles will now also be Euro II compliant, which means that their carbon emissions are at a low .64 gram per liter — a significant decrease from the 2.74 gram per liter carbon emissions of old vehicles,” said Ancheta.

“Given the country’s growth prospect this year, TNT continues to focus on investments such as the re-fleeting and improving operations as well as customer service. We are looking forward to meeting the demands of the growing manufacturing sector,” he added.
