Seminar to tackle new accounting rules

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices will hold a seminar titled ‘New Accounting Rules for SME’s effective January 2010' on Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.

As of January 2010, the Securities and Exchange Commission had mandated SME corporations with assets of P3 million to P350 million and liabilities of P3 million up to P250 million to adopt the New Accounting and Financial Reporting Rules. Every SME must know these changes before they finalize their financial reports to save time and avoid costly mistakes and penalties from SEC.

This special event will feature Ma. Gracia Casals-Diaz, CPA, the general accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her office is in charge of reviewing all financial reports of SME corporations to ensure compliance with the new accounting rules required by the SEC. Awarded by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) as the ‘Young Achiever in Government Service,’ Diaz will discuss the official interpretation and best practices implementation of the new accounting rules.
