CEBU CITY , Philippines — Filipino owned water bottling firm Philippine Spring Water Resources Inc. (PSWRI) said yesterday they will be opening a new plant and warehouse as the demand for bottled water continues to grow.
PSWRI is the manufacturer and distributor of Nature’s Spring bottled drinking water products.
In a press conference, PSWRI project director Charles Capilitan said the company is looking at adding to their five big plants. The firm has two plants in Manila, one in Davao, one in Cebu and one in Cagayan de Oro.
“The market is growing by 30 percent annually and local bottled water firms cannot meet the demand of the market,” Capilitan said.
To fund their expansion, Capilitan said the firm has explored the possibility of listing in the local bourse.
PSWRI’s plant here in Cebu, which operates in three shifts daily, produces 242,000 bottles for every eight-hour shift.
In a related development, the company recently tapped IBM for its SAP ERP implementation project aimed at restructuring business processes and improve operational efficiencies to ensure customer satisfaction.
Capilitan said the program has reduced the company’s cost by 50 percent. He refused to say how much the program costs but said the program will be able to pay for itself within one year of use.
“We were able to cut our costs and reduce fraud,” Capilitan noted.
The deployment of IBM & SAP ERP brought about automation, traceability and accountability of its operations which streamlined and increased operational production efficiency in its product lines namely: bottled water and PET Bottled manufacturing and distribution.
With IBM systems and SAP ERP, PSWRI achieved ‘Go Live’ status in a span of four months making it a milestone in the Philippines IT industry.
With this ongoing project, PSWRI is expected to seamlessly integrate its various businesses and provide improved visibility across the enterprise, resulting in control over operations and quick access to real time information across its various locations and businesses.
