MANILA, Philippines - Total (Philippines) Corp. achieved a new milestone with the twin certification of Bataan and Manila Terminals for ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard for putting in place an effective environmental management system (EMS). Compliance to safety and effective environmental management is a requirement of Total, so the awarding of the ISO 14001 certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Bataan Terminal is certified until Sept. 12, 2012 by Bureau Veritas Certification. World renowned certification body TUV SUD Asia Pacific Ltd. awarded the certification for Manila Terminal which is valid until Jan. 24, 2013. Both facilities also have the distinction of being the first to have been certified for ISSSRS (International Small Site Safety Rating System) in the region. ISSSRS is the equivalent of ISO certification for health and safety standards applied by TOTAL nationwide. Total vice president for operations Dexter Flores said, “We are extremely proud of this achievement. The twin certification re-affirms our dedication, not only to safety, but also to the protection of our environment.”
