MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom, through its wholly-owned mobile commerce subsidiary G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), has launched its GCash Remit domestic cash pick-up service which provides the cheapest and the largest network for money transfers within the Philippines.
The GCash Remit cash pick-up service offers domestic remittance charges for as low as P10 per transaction. It has about 18,000 outlets nationwide serving as sending and receiving points, double the number of outlets provided by other local remittance companies. This makes GCash Remit highly accessible even to those living in far-flung areas.
As an added benefit, senders and beneficiaries of remittances over P1,000 will receive free airtime load as long as they are Globe, Tattoo or TM subscribers.
GXI president Rizza Maniego-Eala said GCash Remit takes into account the importance of domestic money transfers to most Filipinos, thus, its domestic remittance rates are lower than those of other existing players to make the service more affordable to consumers.
Domestic remittance facilities usually serve individuals who go to the metropolis to work, leaving behind family members who are in constant need of funds. These domestic migrant workers regularly send hard-earned money to their loved ones through cash pick-up services. There are also cases when parents in the provinces send allowances and tuition fees to their children studying in the city.
“We recognize the need for efficient remittance services for various Filipino consumer segments. These include breadwinners, gatekeepers or family members who manage household budgets, and the youth who depend largely on allowances from parents and guardians. Customer feedback have also told us that outlet accessibility is a minimum requirement for the senders taking into account the convenience of their beneficiaries claiming the money sent. GCash Remit addresses these customer needs by bringing remittance outlets closer to homes and families combined with the lowest possible rates,” she said.
Eala added that aside from making the service more affordable, they packed GCash Remit with additional convenience factors to their customers by offering free text alerts and free airtime load for each transaction. “We want them to be able to send money home in a convenient, safe and timely manner at a reasonable cost,” she explained.
GCash Remit outlets can be found in one’s neighborhood since they include loading stations such as sari-sari stores, gift shops, pharmacies, Internet cafes, boutiques, food establishments, photocopying stations, school supply stores, bakeshops, rice dealers, farm and poultry supply stores, gas stations, multi-purpose cooperatives, and cellphone shops. Users of the service can, likewise, visit any Globe Business Center, rural bank, pawnshop and other remittance partners near their areas.
