EEI unit is first firm in Saudi to earn ISO 9001:2008 certification

MANILA, Philippines - Al Rushaid Construction Co., Ltd. (ARCC), EEI Corp.’s joint venture company in Saudi Arabia, is the first company to be certified by TUV NORD Germany in the kingdom with ISO 9001:2008, an international standard for quality management systems.

TUV NORD CERT GmbH performed the audit of the company and ascertained its compliance with the requirements as stipulated in DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 for quality management systems. The audit was conducted in the three major offices of the company in Al Khobar, in the Juaymah Camp, and in its on-going Sharq project located in Jubail, and the certification was completed on March 14, 2009.

During the closing audit meeting last March 15 at the company’s Sharq project in Jubail, TUV NORD auditors announced that ARCC is the first company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification, irrespective of industry.

“I would like to thank the representatives of the various departments we audited for their involvement and the support they had given to complete our audit process,” said Shibab K. Ismail, TUV auditor. “Further, the entire management of ARCC has committed that they will continue with the improvements in their processes,” he added.

“Our compliance with the established quality management system and our commitment for continuous improvement is a testament to how much we value quality,” said Mercado Magno, vice president and general manager of ARCC.

“I congratulate the entire EEI team, especially those in the kingdom, for this magnificent achievement. EEI Corp. was also the first construction company to be ISO certified for quality management in the Philippines in 1994,” said Roberto Jose Castillo, EEI president and CEO. He added, “We are, and will always be committed to providing value to our stakeholders.”
