MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (telephone 842-7148 or 59 and website www.cgbp.org), is holding a two-day pioneering seminar titled, “4th Best Practices in Crafting Local and International Commercial Contracts” on March 5 and 6 at The Peninsula Manila, Makati City.
This MCLE-accredited program is about the perfection of a working commercial contract. Seasoned experts and authorities in contract law will discuss topics ranging from the basics of contracts, contract negotiation, boilerplate provisions, special stipulations, controversial clauses and covenants in credit transactions, to real estate contracts, chattel mortgages, and government contracts both in the local and international context.
Resource speakers include: Tristan A. Catindig (Master of Law, Harvard University ’69), managing partner of Catindig and Ureta Law Office and professional lecturer in commercial law at UP; Arturo M. de Castro (Master & Doctor of Laws, University of Michigan ’76 & ’82), managing partner of de Castro & Cagampang Law Office; Jose A. Bernas, managing partner, Bernas Law Offices and professional lecturer in government contracts at the Ateneo; and Jim V. Lopez, who is the country’s asset protection law expert. He is the author of four law books and presently the associate dean of Lyceum Law School.
An additional speaker in this once-a-year program is Charlie P. Villaseñor, president and CEO of Transprocure, who will discuss best practices in contracts management.
