Philamlife bares top promotion

MANILA, Philippines - Jose L. Cuisia Jr., president and CEO of The Philippine American Life and General Insurance Co. (Philamlife), announced the promotion of Reynaldo C. Centeno to senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Philamlife effective Jan. 1, 2009.

Centeno started his career in Philamlife in 1986 as an actuarial associate. After only a little over a year, he was promoted to the rank of assistant vice president and actuary and steadily worked his way up the organization assuming positions of greater responsibility and becoming executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief actuary after less than 12 years in the company.

In his new position, Centeno will now oversee the different profit centers of Philamlife on top of his responsibilities over operations, finance, IT and actuarial. He is expected to strengthen synergies between and among the different units under his area of responsibility to support increased efficiency and productivity and work for the achievement of Philamlife’s goals and objectives. He will continue to concurrently act as president and CEO of PhilamCare, the healthcare company of the Philam Group, and provide the necessary strategic directions for the company to achieve its corporate objectives.

Centeno graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. He obtained his Masters degree in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Michigan.
