In an interview following a breakfast forum held yesterday, Landco senior vice president Alfred Xerez-Burgos III said the company remains bullish and aggressive in the leisure and resort category due to the strong take-up of its projects.
Burgos said the company will spend around P1.5 billion for the development of two seaside resorts – Amara en Terrazas, an exclusive community made up of ocean front residences and Playa Calatagan, a 92-hectare integrated residential and tourism estate in Calatagan, Batangas.
Burgos said Landco intends to transform Calatagan into a major tourist town offering varied nature-based attractions and activities
Calatagan already boasts of white sand beaches, historical landmarks, a world-class championship golf course and eco-tourism sites.
Landco proposes to complement these existing attractions with a masterplanned tourist hub integrating residential and tourism projects that will serve as a base from which to enjoy Calatagan’s various attractions.
A coral regeneration program will also be undertaken by Landco to position the town as a diving spot.
Also in the pipeline is the development of the 400-hectare Escudero estate, a mixed residential-commercial master planned community covering the towns of San Pablo, Laguna, and Dolores and Tiaong in Quezon – envisioned as the largest privately owned tourist destination in the country.
The project is in joint venture with the Escudero family.
Burgos said the company will spend between P400 million and P500 million for the construction of a shopping mall in a 12-hectare property in Naga City, Bicol in partnership with the Metro Gaisano Group.
Landco Pacific earlier forged a joint venture with Capitol Golf to develop a 150-hectare golf resort estate in Macabud, Montalban in Rizal, just in the outskirts of Quezon City. The project will feature a world-class 18-hole championship golf course, a residential resort community, and commercial hubs.
Landco said the project will be a catalyst for Montalban’s rise as a new residential and leisure address.
The 150-hectare project is only the starting component in Landco’s plan to develop a large integrated multi-development complex in the northeast.
