Megaworld cited among Asia’s best-managed firms

Megaworld Corp., the country’s No. 1 residential developer, has been recognized as one of the best-managed Asian companies by Hong Kong-based FinanceAsia magazine in its survey of top companies in the region in 2004.

Megaworld joined Smart/Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Co., Ayala Corp. and SM Prime Holdings among the Philippines’ best-managed companies. Megaworld also placed among the top-ranking companies in investor relations, with Megaworld director for investor relations Luke Tan cited as the country’s second best investor relations representative.

This year, FinanceAsia, an authority on capital markets and corporate finance activity in the region, grouped 424 fund managers, portfolio managers, equity investors and research analysts as respondents in a survey of companies from the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, China and Indonesia.

Megaworld had been ranked by FinanceAsia as one of the best-managed Asian companies in 2001. More recently, Euromoney magazine voted it one of the best Asian companies in 2003, and one of the best Asian property companies, along with Sun Hung Kai Properties of Hong Kong and CapitaLand of Singapore. Also in 2003, Megaworld ranked first among Philippine companies in Euromoney’s corporate governance survey of emerging markets.
