This year’s honor will be given to the country’s outstanding business journalists for their exemplary works in 2001.
The six best business journalists will be chosen from the sectors of agriculture/ agri-business, banking and finance, energy, stock market and securities, telecommunications, and trade and industry. The best business feature story will also be given due recognition.
EJAP is composed of more than a hundred business reporters and editors in the country, and EJAP and Globe Telecommunications have recognized the achievements of men and women whose work have stood out in different fields of business writing.
Last year’s winner Ted P. Torres (The Philippine Star) for energy; Conrado Diaz Jr (The Philippine Star) for securities; Mary Ann Reyes (The Philippine Star) for telecommunications; and Clarissa Batino (Inquirer) for banking and finance.
Batino also bagged the business features awards.
Meanwhile, former Finance Undersecretary and now program director for Ford Foundation Philippine Milwilda Guevara chairs the board of judges for the 11th EJAP-Globe Telecom Awards.
The rest of the board of judges are: Ateneo de Manila professor and former Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Cielito Habito; iAyala president and former Energy Secretary Delfin Lazaro; Philippine Stock Exchange president and Land Bank of the Philippine president and chief executive officer and former solon Gary Texas.
Jessie Cabaluna of the prestigious SGV will make the final tabulation of all entries.
Consistent with its tradition, EJAP will release a magazine-type souvenir program to commemorate the event.
