SGV welcomes Ernst & Young global leaders

SGV & Co., the country’s largest professional services firm, welcomes to the country Rick Bobrow, CEO of Ernst & Young Global (E&Y) and Bill Kimsey, CEO Emeritus of E&Y. Accompanying them is John Harvey, executive partner of E&Y in the Far East. The E&Y leaders will commemorate SGV’s permanent membership in E&Y as well as meet with top clients and key officials of regulatory agencies.

In June, SGV joined the E&Y network and became the sole member practice in the Philippines last Sept. 1, Kimsey is acknowledged as having orchestrated talks that led to the very successful association with SGV. Early this year, Kimsey embarked on what was supposed to be a three-day business trip to Asia but ended up returning to his London home after six weeks. In that span of time, he helped guide E&Y through talks with the various Arthur Andersen practices, convincing most of them to join E&Y and resulting in the 20 percent growth of E&Y globally in terms of size and operations. Says Kimsey, "It was the most intense, stressful and demanding time in my 31-plus years with the firms."

On Sept. 30 , Kimsey officially retired from E&Y. As its CEO, he was the architect that helped successfully bring together various E&Y practices across the world into a more cohesive, global firm. SGV honored Kimsey recently with the naming of the William L. Kimsey Information Hub in the SGB Building.

E&Y’s new CEO, Bobrow, will be joining Kimsey in Manila for the first time. After assuming the top post in July, Bobrow has been on the road meeting with new members of the E&Y family worldwide. Bobrow joined F&Y in 1976 and worked his way up from being a tax staff in the Texas office, to West Region director in California, vice chair of tax practice initiatives in Indiana and CEO for the Americas.
