"We are bringing biodiversity much closer to a lot of peoples consciousness," says Haribon Foundation president Fr. Mario Francisco. Based on recent studies, we have learned that a lot of people dont know what biodiversity is all about and how it plays such a crucial role in the overall state of our environment."
"Most people, especially the urban dwellers, are more aware of urban concerns like pollution and traffic but what they dont know is that all these stem from the disruption of our countrys biodiversity. Making more people conscious of how to preserve our countrys biodiversity is just one of the goals which we hope to achieve through this mall tour," adds Haribon Foundation executive director Annabelle Plantilla.
Haribon defines biodiversity as the variety of living things including manthat is required to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
Haribons biodiversity exhibit is sponsored by Philips, Apple Computers and NU 107.
