Haribon sponsors biodiversity exhibits

In celebration of its 30th year, the Haribon Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources will hold a biodiversity mall tour, an exhibit that sheds plenty of insights on biodiversity, on the following dates at these venues:

July 4-10 at the Activity Center of the Alabang Town Center, July 11-17 at the Main Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall and on Aug. 19-25 at the North Court of the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell.

"We are bringing biodiversity much closer to a lot of people’s consciousness," says Haribon Foundation president Fr. Mario Francisco. Based on recent studies, we have learned that a lot of people don’t know what biodiversity is all about and how it plays such a crucial role in the overall state of our environment."

"Most people, especially the urban dwellers, are more aware of urban concerns like pollution and traffic but what they don’t know is that all these stem from the disruption of our country’s biodiversity. Making more people conscious of how to preserve our country’s biodiversity is just one of the goals which we hope to achieve through this mall tour," adds Haribon Foundation executive director Annabelle Plantilla.

Haribon defines biodiversity as the variety of living things– including man–that is required to maintain a healthy ecosystem.

Haribon’s biodiversity exhibit is sponsored by Philips, Apple Computers and NU 107.
