In an administrative order, Mandaue Mayor Thadeo Ouano named Cebu Pacific as "the official carrier of city personnel who go on official travel to other destinations where (the airline) is operating."
Cebu Pacifics low-fare-great-value services "not only reduce the cost of air travel but also add comfort and convenience to the citys personnel," the Mandaue order states. The airline has built a solid reputation of providing on-time service and personalized care to its passengers. Moreover, the agreement is considered "financially advantageous" for Mandaue, as it will cut costs that take up a huge slice of the citys budget.
"A sizable amount of the citys budget goes to air transport expenses," Quano disclosed.
Cebu Pacific serves all major domestic routes in the Philippines. It is the dominant carrier using Cebu as its hub of operations for flights within the Visayas-Mindanao region.
With the administrative order in effect, all officials and employees of the Mandaue City government are now using Cebu Pacifics planes when traveling outside Cebu, "unless justified by problems in flight schedule or non-availability of seats."
In case an official or employee decides to use other airlines, he or she will have to shoulder the excess in air fare and other expenses.
