German firm to expand Philippine operations

Deutsche Post World Net, a German-based logistics service provider is expanding its operations in the Philippines following its recent acquisition of Danzas, Europe’s number one overland transport group.

Danzas, which recently merged with AEI, the largest international airfreight service provider in the US, is now the leading provider of intercontinental forwarding services.

Calude Schaer, chief operating officer of Danzas AEI, said that "Danzas is repositioning itself as a major logistics provider in the country."

Danzas is further beefing up its position by forging an agreement with another Filipino cargo forwarder – Royal Cargo Corp. (RCC)–to provide state-of-the-art logistic services for transporting incoming and outgoing cargo.

RCC president Michael Raeuber, along with Schaer and top executives of Deutsche Post, expressed confidence on business prospects in the Philippines.

Raeuber admitted that airfreight volumes have dropped significantly due to the downturn in exports.

However, they see airfreight volumes rebounding with the expected recovery of the economy.
