MANILA, Philippines - Iginiit kahapon ng Malacañang na walang balak si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III na magdeklara ng ‘total mining ban’ sa Mindanao.
Sinabi ni Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, ilang ulit nang sinabi ni Pangulong Aquino sa maraming pagkakataon na siya ay pabor sa ‘responsible mining’ subalit tutol sa illegal mining.
Wika pa ni Usec. Valte, kung ang nakakaraming miyembro ng komunidad ay matindi ang pagtutol sa pagmimina ay susuportahan ito ng Pangulo.
“From what I understand, there have been several pronouncements made by the President on mining in as far as the wishes of the community primarily because they will be the ones affected and, from what I understand, is that if the community wants it, if it is highly-regulated, then we will support whatever decision that the community makes as to mining in their area,” paliwanag pa ni Valte sa media briefing sa Malacañang.
