MANILA, Philippines - Naghain ng isang resolusyon ang dalawang kongresista ng progresibong grupo sa paggunita ng ika-30 anibersaryo ng Batas Militar, na naglalayon ideklarang “enemy of democracy” si dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos.
Sinabi nina Akbayan Reps. Walden Bello at Arlene Bag-ao, na hindi makakalimutan at mapapatawad ang kasalanan ni Marcos kaya dapat ay opisyal itong ideklarang kaaway ng demokrasya ng Kamara.
“This resolution is one of our humble contributions in defending the truth. Congress must take the lead in this endeavor for the sake of those who bravely fought the brutal dictatorship as well as the future generations,” ani Bello sa House Resolution 1756. “Truth is, Marcos was a dictator, an enemy of democracy. It is a fact. Those who choose to ignore this piece of reality are themselves contributing to the weakening of democracy and truth.”
Ibinibintang sa diktaturya ang pagpatay sa 3,257 murders, 35,000 torture cases at 70,000 incarcerations.
Sinabi naman ng grupong Samahan ng Ex-detainees Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto na dapat matuto si Pangulong Aquino sa mga leksyon ng Martial Law at palayain na ang mga political prisoners, marami sa kanila ay matanda na at masasakitin. (Butch Quejada/Gemma Garcia)
