“El Bambino” gets back on winning track

CEBU, Philippines — Jake “El Bambino” Amparo of PMI Bohol Stable snapped out of his two-fight skid with a resounding unanimous decision victory over JC “Kidlat” Francisco of Mariveles, Bataan in the main event of “Kumong Bol-Anon 16” on Monday night, June 24, at the Bilar Gymnasium in Bilar, Bohol.

Aside from improving his record to 15-6-1 with 3KOs, the 26-year-old Amparo also gained a much needed confidence booster after losing in an International Boxing Federation minimumweight eliminator against his compatriot Pedro Taduran and in a world title shot at the hands of IBF 105-pound champion Ginjiri Shigeoka of Japan.

“Maayo kaayo ang iyang gipakita sa duwa labi na kay ang kontra beterano ug dako sa iyaha og 6 lbs. sa actual weigh-in,” said PMI Boxing matchmaker Edito “ALA” Villamor.

In other results, Sugaray Leonard Pores and Richard Laspoña both won by unanimous verdict against Jerson Arigola and Carlo Diaz, respectively.

Leonard Pores scored a fourth round knockout of Rustom Sario, while Rey Simbajon edged Marjohn Tabamo by unanimous decision. — (FREEMAN)
