Amparo will try to break two-fight jinx in “Kumong Bol-anon 16” today

CEBU , Philippines —  Jake “El Bambino” Amparo (14-6-1, 3KOs) of PMI Bohol Stable hopes to get back on the winning track as he battles against fellow countryman JC “Kidlat” Francisco (8-16-6, 3KOs) of Valenzuela City in the main event of “Kumong Bol-Anon 16” fight card today (Monday, June 24) in Bilar, Bohol.

The 26-year-old Amparo is coming off back-to-back losses.

First, Amparo bowed to his compatriot Pedro Taduran by unanimous decision in their International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight eliminator on December 28 last year in Tagbilaran City.

Two months ago, Amparo got a surprise world title shot as a last minute substitute for ArAr Andales.

But the pride of Guindulman lost to IBF 105-pound champion Ginjiri Shigeoka by unanimous verdict last March 31 at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya, Japan.

Amparo will try to snap out of his two-fight jinx as he takes Francisco in a non-title bout scheduled for eight rounds.

The rest of the slam-bag card pits Sugarey Leonard Pores vs Jerson Arigola, Richard Laspona vs Carlo Diaz VII, Leonard Pores III vs Rustom Sario, and Rey Simbajon vs. Marjhun Tabamo.
