Mandaue government completes barangay monitoring system

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City government has announced the completion of its Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).

CBMS is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating data used for planning and program implementation to alleviate poverty and economic development.

"Data na siya on every barangay. So makita diha...ang level sa economy sa usa ka household, usa ka barangay. Naa pod diha ang mga issues like asa ang nagbaha, asa ang...mga angay i-target nga priority project within the barangay," said Architect Marlo Ocleasa, head of the Mandaue City Planning and Development Office (CPDO).

Environmental planner Engr. Rizel Rabaca highlighted some data gathered in the CBMS, such as demographic, poverty indicators, climate and disaster risk, health, and economic characteristics.

Barangay Paknaan has the largest young age group and working age group, according to the data, while Barangay Looc has the most households living as informal settlers with 633.

It was also revealed that manufacturing is the industry type that has the largest percentage of labor workforce at 20.41 percent or 25,595.
