P3.4M drugs seized, 3 suspects arrested

CEBU, Philippines — Authorities seized at least P3.4 million worth of illegal drugs in separate buy-bust operations resulting in the arrest of three drug suspects in Cebu City.

Joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Inayawan Police Station arrested e-bike driver Abellijon Gabutero, 33, alias Demot in Sitio Blackcats, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Anti-narcotics agents seized from Gabutero 300 grams of shabu worth P2 million. His areas of operation include Barangay Mambaling and Duljo-Fatima where he could allegedly dispose of 500 grams weekly.

Authorities said Gabutero had been a subject of police surveillance for one week before he was finally arrested.

Meanwhile, operatives of Inayawan Police Station 7 also arrested suspected drug peddlers Carmelo Navarro, 53, alias Melo and Sean Holly Robesano, 34, alias Sean, all residents of Sitio Ubca 3, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City during a separate operation in Sitio Bamboo, Barangay Basak Tuesday morning.

Seized from them were 210 grams of shabu worth P1.4 million. The suspects are now detained at the Inayawan Police Station while criminal complaints for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared for filing at the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office. — (FREEMAN)
