2 dead in Liloan accident

CEBU, Philippines — Two people died following a collision between a motorcycle and a prime mover along the national road in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan town, past 1 a.m. yesterday.

The fatalities were identified as Mikco Intrampas Manjac, 35, of Barangay Opao, Mandaue City, who was driving the motorcycle, a Suzuki Raider 150, and his passenger Rapunzel Gadje, 26, from Barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.

The Fuso Prime Mover was driven by Edwin Sioco Francisco, 39, of Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City.

The Liloan Municipal Police Station said that the motorcycle was going north while the prime mover was heading south. The accident happened after the prime mover allegedly counterflowed into the opposite lane and collided with the motorcycle.

Manjac and Gadje were thrown to the pavement and sustained serious injuries.  They were taken to the Danao City Provincial Hospital for treatment but Manjac failed to arrive alive while Gadje was pronounced dead at 10:52 a.m. yesterday.

Francisco is currently detained at the Liloan Police Station and is set to face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property. - Romeo Marantal/BRP
