Close to 6,000 more students given scholarships

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government has given the opportunity to close to 6,000 youngsters after being granted scholarship certificates.

With this, there will now be over 9,000 scholars sponsored by the city government for the second semester.

The 13th batch is coming from 60 different schools in the city, mainly public schools.

There are, however, also over a thousand graduating or new graduates from five private schools that were also able to avail of the scholarships.

The release of certificates begins today (June 13) until June 21.

Venues in today’s release of certificates of scholarship and fit test include Tisa National High School and Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial National High School gyms.

A total of 11 students from Pamutan are expected to show up and claim their certificates today in Tisa, 60 from Toong, 123 from Tisa NHS itself and 20 from Punta Princesa NHS-Night High.

Over at DSOSMNHS, there are 120 students who are qualified to receive scholarships plus 56 others from the Cebu City Science National High School.

The city’s scholarship program executive director Judy Navarrete reminded the latest batch to bring a valid ID and own ballpen along with their vaccination card for monitoring. —  GMR (FREEMAN)
