We were fortunate to have been invited to the welcome dinner for the 2015 Gusi Peace Prize International Foundation laureates held at the Manila Hotel on Tuedsday night. We are so honored to have been invited by fans of Ms. Nora Aunor, headed by Ms. Marie Cusi.
We are proud to witness the historic occasion where the Superstar and People’s Artist was feted as a Gusi Peace laureate in recognition of her achievements as an actress in movies, television, theater and radio.
Ate Guy looked every inch a movie queen in her gown. She was radiantly beautiful to say the least.
Some of stars and directors who’ve worked with her were also invited to the Manila Hotel event as part of the Nora Aunor delegation. Among those who came were directors Maryo J. Delos Reyes (who directed some of Nora’s biggest hits like “Annie Batungbakal”) and Gil Portes (who directed her in “Merika)”, Lloyd Samartino (her leading man in “Totoo Ba ang Tsismis?”)
GMA-7 stars Rocco Nacino and Jeric Gonzales (who worked with Ate Guy in “Hustisya”), Barbie Forteza (who just finished the film “Laut” with Ate Guy, a 2016 Cinemalaya entry), Aiza Seguerra and wife Liza Dino, and members of her fan clubs were also in attendance and were all dressed to the nines.
In her speech, Ate Guy thanked the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation for the honor given to her. She also shared her award to her loyal fans, who have always been there, through thick and thin, to give her love and support.
With us around the dinner table was solid Ate Guy fan Mel Caparas, and we asked him how long he had been a fan of the actress. He said he was still a young boy when he became a fan of the Superstar. His mom is a fan of Ate Guy and she would take him with her in watching movies of her idol. That early, he already admired the actress’ talent.
Asked if there was ever a time that he lost his admiration for Nora, Mel said the showbiz icon had her share of mistakes and pitfalls, bad career choices and even lovelife issues, but that these don’t outweigh her contributions to the industry.
“Iba naman ang pagiging aktres niya sa mga naging pagsubok niya sa buhay. Hindi maikakaila ang malaking kontribusyon niya sa history ng Philippine entertainment. Kung may mga naging pagkakamali man siya sa kanyang personal na buhay, labas naman iyon sa kanyang pagiging aktres,” said Mel.
Just like Mel, we are also a Noranian, and we are proud of what Ate Guy has achieved as an actress. She may have her mistakes, big or small, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that as an actress, she has brought immense pride to the Philippines.

Through its theme, “Bubble Gang” wants everyone to know that the show encompasses not just the cast, the staff, the network, but also the lives of all Filipinos who watch the show. One other thing to look forward to is the in-depth documentary to be aired tonight. In coordination with GMA News and Public Affairs led by Jessica Soho and Mike Enriquez, the documentary will provide a glimpse of all the important aspects of the show including the cast and staff, and how the show directly affects the lives of Filipinos. It will also showcase a side of the show that is rarely seen onscreen to let the audience feel how important they are to the success of the show and to express how privileged the “Bubble Gang” people are to be part of this event.
In the end, “Bubble Gang” wants their viewers to be able to say: “I Am Bubble Gang,” because indeed, we all are.
