Unbeaten Petron faces tough Foton

MANILA, Philippines -  Unbeaten Petron shoots for the first semifinals berth as it tangles with Foton today in the Belo-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

They collide at 3 p.m. with the Blaze Spikers seeking a fourth straight win and the Tornadoes gunning for a share of the lead.

Cocolife and Sta. Lucia, meanwhile, clash in a duel of winless teams at 5 p.m. while Cignal and Generika-Ayala go for a crucial victory in their 7 p.m. encounter.

A souped-up Petron side racked up three straight victories over Sta. Lucia, Cignal and Cocolife to zero in on the first semifinal berth in the event backed by Senoh, Mikasa, Mueller and Asics with TV5 as official broadcast partner and supported by Gold’s Gym as official fitness partner and UCPB Gen as official insurance provider.

But the Blaze Spikers are wary of the Tornadoes, who despite losing Jaja Santiago and EJ Laure, remain a solid force with middle blocker Dindin Manabat back in form and NCAA MVP Gretchel Soltones providing the needed firepower.
