MANILA, Philippines - Amarjit Sanghera steered the Ducati Multistrada 1200 to the overall crown as Team Ducati Philippines dominated the 10th Boss Ironman Motorcycle Challenge at Hotel Stotsenberg in Clark, Pampanga recently.
Sanghera, 28, emerged as the first Ducati finisher of the event from among 300 participants, completing the 1,200km course up North and back to Clark in 12 hours, three minutes.
Consistent riding and strategy keyed Sanghera’s impressive victory in the event which served as a true test of man and machine. The field negotiated six mandatory checkpoints – Marcos Highway in Baguio; Vigan in Ilocos Sur; Magapit Bridge in Cagayan Valley; Tumauini in Isabela; San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija; and back to Clark, Pampanga.
Sanghera also credited the excellent racing performance of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 for his feat.
“It has helped me in a lot of ways, especially in tackling all those challenges along the way. The Ducati Multistrada 1200 has the agility, handling and power of a sports bike while having the comfort of a touring bike. I was able to go fast while being stable,” said Sanghera.
Meanwhile, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 also grabbed the spotlight in a challenging uphill trek as Hubert Soriano captured the Class 5 Dual Sports crown of the Jariel’s Peak Uphill Climb Challenge at the Jariel’s Peak Hotel and Restobar in Infanta, Quezon recently.
The Italian championship heritage of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 was put to a more grueling test as it went through 18.5 kilometers of twists, corkscrews, dips and uphill attack in Quezon Province starting from the newly-developed Marifanta Highway bordering the provinces of Rizal and Quezon to the Jariel’s Peak Hotel and Restobar in Infanta.
Soriano clocked the fastest finish in 12 minutes and 18 seconds, bagging the Class 5 Dual Sports title.
Ducati Philippines general manager Marc de Joya described the victories of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 by Sanghera and Soriano as a fitting run-up for the June launching of the all-new exciting 2015 Ducati Multistrada, which he initially described to have great strength and features better than ever for leisure and travel riding.
