Young Coseteng, David keep firm hold of karting lead

MANILA, Philippines - Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement and Zachary David of Formula-E Racing came away with victories to firm up their lead in their respective divisions in the fifth leg of the Petron Blaze 100 ROK Cup Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.

Coseteng Jr. bested defending Mini-ROK Blaze 100 champion Flynn Jackes of KartMaster Drakar and newcomer Leroux Romain in the nine-lap final race to capture the Mini-ROK Blaze 100 crown anew while David dominated the Formula Cadet Blaze 100 class in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

Coseteng Jr. and Jackes battled side-by-side entering the final turn but the former came through with a risky but decisive maneuver just 10 meters going to the finish to claim the checkered flag, 0.125 of a second ahead of Jackes.

Romain checked in third 0.455 of a second behind Coseteng Jr. while Bobby Redpath and Raprap Gutierrez finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

David, on the other hand, dominated the Formula Cadet Blaze 100 and beat Spencer Troy Cortez and Joaquin Garrido for the crown.

Jackes shared the spotlight by winning the KF Junior Restricted Blaze 100 title, foiling Redpath and Draeco McLelland with Mikey Jordan and Keith Co winding up fourth and fifth, respectively.

William Casequin, meanwhile, bagged the Formula SL  Novice Xtra over Tai Zulberti, Draeco McLelland and Jose Wilfredo Dizon.
