MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Raniel Resuello of Ducati RAR Castrol Motolite Racing Team struck back and ended Dashi Watanabe’s four-race winning streak as he ruled the fifth leg of the 2013 Bridgestone Philippine Superbikes Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas recently.
With the win, Resuello wrested the second overall with 97 points from HGM’s Marvin Mangulabnan while foiling Watanabe’s sweep bid in the six-leg series serving as part of the 2013 Petronas Philippine Motorsports Championships Season.
Despite the setback, Watanabe and his Aprilia Racing Team still put a lock on the Superbikes Expert championship with 122 points heading to the final leg on Oct. 20 at the Clark International Speedway.
Resuello’s 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale clocked the identical fastest laptime as Watanabe at 1:40.181 in the qualifying time trials.
