MANILA, Philippines - Dottie Ardina added the Ladies Penang Amateur Open crown to her growing list of victories as she beat ICTSI-The Country Club teammate Cyna Rodriguez by three despite a closing two-over 74 in Malaysia late Thursday.
Ardina, who shot two 72s in the first two rounds, wavered coming home with bogeys on Nos. 15 and 18 but the reigning Taiwan Amateur Open champion had built enough cushion to hold off Rodriguez at the Bukit Jawa Lake Course.
She wound up with a 218 aggregate, three ahead of Rodriguez, winner of this year’s Hong Kong Amateur Open who also struggled in demanding condition and hobbled with a 76 for a 221.
Bianca Pagdanganan made a 78 and salvaged third place at 226 while Jayvie Agojo failed to sustain a 73 in the second round with a 78 as she wound up fourth with a 228.
