P3-million Metro Card poker on

MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Card Club marks its third anniversary with a P3-million poker tournament starting today at the Metrowalk Complex in Ortigas, Pasig City.

Dubbed the “Metro Card Club Three!,” the tournament offers a guaranteed top prize of P1 million and is expected to lure the country’s leading poker players.

They include those who qualified from a series of satellite tournaments held at the Metro with hundreds more expected to buy-in in the seven-day tournament. Entry fee is pegged at P3,000.

The champion, along with the second and third placers, will also get a crack at bigger prizes as Metro Card Club has included the packages for the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), which will hold its fourth leg at the Shangrila Mactan Resort from Nov. 12 to 16 in Cebu.

The top-notch international event has a buy-in of P100,000 and will feature the top poker players in the world.

The Metro Card Club Three is tipped to surpass the existing record of 804 players, which the Metro itself set during the P2-million anniversary tourney last year.

The seven-day competition also makes it the longest local poker tournament.

Boasting of the biggest poker room in the country, the Metro Card Club also offers the best structured tournaments in the country with a buy-in as low as P500.
