Del Rosario advances to 4 events

Liza del Rosario finally made it on top of the four major events at stake in the 32nd Boysen-PBC International Open Bowling Championships on the day Joylyn Yambao created the biggest ripple at the Green Valley Center in Pasig.

Del Rosario teamed up with Liza Clutario and Cecilia Yap to power the RP trio on top of the class O team event with a score of 1257, dislodging the other national squad bannered by Jojo Canare, whose 1225 effort relegated it to second place.

Irene Benitez’ Boysen-Euromed team went down to third place with 1185.

With her superb showing in the team division of the meet sponsored by Boysen, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Kegel Asia and AVIVA, the reigning Asian singles tenpin champion now has the lock on all the main categories up for grabs including the singles class O (946), all events (1698) and doubles where he is partnered with Benitez (891).

Almost overshadowed by Del Rosario’s feat in Day 5 of the meet also backed by PRIMA, AMSTAR, Astor, BQS Management, Kenway, Tone Guide, Silver Wings, Mercury Int’l Security Printing, Paper Handling Systems, Confident Feminine Napkins and H.S. Pow Construction was the stride made by Yambao in the singles event.

Yambao, representing TBAM/PRIMA, surged from 17th to third place after scoring 895, one pin short off the second running Yap.

It was Benitez who bore the brunt of Yambao’s rise in the standings, being demoted her 864 total to fourth place.

National team coach Purvis Granger’s stay at the top spot of the men’s side were also threatened as Benny Dytoc and Tyrone Ongpauco came up with impressive showings Wednesday night.
